Rady Children's Hospital San Diego Nurse Practitioner - Orthopedics in San Diego, California

This employment opportunity is being recruited by Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego on behalf of Children's Specialists of San Diego.

The Pediatric Orthopedic Department is looking to hire a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to assist our outpatient clinic. Primary duties will be with our neuromuscular team, caring for patients with neuromuscular diagnoses such as muscular dystrophy, congenital myopathies, and cerebral palsy. Additional responsibilities will be caring for our general pediatric orthopedic patients and participating in fracture care. The NP should be comfortable with basic orthopedic procedures such as closed reductions, aspirations, and digital blocks. No surgical time is included in this position. The NP must work well as part of a team and independently. Excellent communication skills and organizational skills are required. Occasionally, duties may require the NP to help with Emergency Room and inpatient floor consults. Experience with EPIC electronic medical records is preferred. Proficiency in Spanish is desired but not required. The anticipated hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday – Friday but are subject to change based on the practice needs. Occasional night clinics until 7 pm will be required for an additional stipend—no weekends are required at this time.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education children and families in clinical, school, and in-home settings. The Nurse Practitioner functions as a primary care provider, clinical leader, educator, researcher and consultant and works with supervision of a physician. The Nurse Practitioner supports the philosophies of the department of nursing as well as the medical staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree

Current California Nurse Practitioner license

Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA

Furnishing number, State of California (w/in 1 year of employment)

DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications (within one year of employment)

Medicare Billing number (NPI- National Provider Identifier) Must obtain within 6 months of employment

Certification: Nurse Practitioner, National (w/in 1 year of employment)

Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services

Successfully completes the requirements of the delegations of Services for the assigned division

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master Degree of Science

Two years of experience in clinical nursing with emphasis in specialty area

Experience in specialty area as a Nurse Practitioner

Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills

Bilingual Skills desired

The expected hiring range for this position is $58.38 to $80.27
